Materia 2026.
The second chapter of Project Materia. Nine internationally renowned artists each create one object in Matek™ — a circular material by Mater — and present them together at Købmagergade 3 during 3 Days of Design Copenhagen 2026, before touring to Paris, London and the United States.
A material with no history.
Last year, Materia explored the weight of history through bronze, marble and glass. This June, during 3 Days of Design, the conversation shifts to a material that carries no history at all.
Matek did not come from the earth. It was pressed into existence from coffee shells, sawdust and recycled plastic. Yet it possesses a density and honesty that demands a seat at the same table as heritage materials.
Materia 2.0 asks what happens when we treat discarded resources with the same gravity we once reserved for marble.
